Why Choose Laminate Flooring

If you’re wanting that authentic hardwood look without the expense, Stylish Interiors has the perfect solution: our wide selection of laminate flooring. Laminate is one of the more affordable types of flooring, and its “floating floor” installation is quick and easy. The best example of a floating floor is laminate flooring, which is almost never glued down to the subfloor. With the introduction of the tongue-and-groove method, individual planks can be interlocked to form the flooring bed to give a smooth, complete finish.

Without breaking the bank, laminate flooring has the potential to really elevate your interior design, proving to be an economical design choice. Best of all, our laminate experts can bring our showroom to you. Our in-home estimates are always free and give you a chance to try out our quality products in the comfort of your own space.

Cost Effective

As mentioned above, laminate flooring is extremely budget-friendly and comes in a variety of styles, textures, widths and grades to elevate almost every room. In general, it is more affordable than other popular floor options, such as hardwood, stone, porcelain and ceramic. Laminate flooring is also much cheaper and quicker to install compared to other flooring.

Style

Modern laminate floors are almost indistinguishable from a real hardwood floor. Wood-look laminate comes in shades of colors from blond to deep red to dark black. Even the complex texture of real timber, such as the knots, cracks and flaws, can be perfectly simulated. You can even choose laminate that has the appearance of natural stone or concrete.

Resistance

Just how durable is laminate? Laminate flooring is able to resist sharp pet claws, stiletto heels, office chairs, the shock of heavy, falling objects, and so much more. You don’t need to worry about spilling liquids: simply mop up the fluid as quickly as possible and it won’t have time to penetrate into the planks. Its durability makes it a great choice for hallways, kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, and basically any room with heavy foot traffic.

Laminate Flooring Maintenance

Laminate is attractive, low maintenance, and very durable. It enhances the value of your home for less money than you would spend on solid hardwood or engineered wood flooring. Yet for all of its stellar qualities, cleaning presents a unique set of problems: laminate and liquids do not mix. But keeping your laminate flooring looking new is still relatively easy, if you know how to take care of it. Here are the best ways to clean laminate floors.

Regular Cleaning

To regularly clean your laminate, sweeping or vacuuming with the soft-brush attachment every couple weeks will do the trick. To clean up a sticky or staining spill of liquid, try a solution of one part vinegar to three parts water, but use water sparingly as you clean. Water can soak in and cause peeling and separation in your laminate planks.

Deep Cleaning

After you dry-clean the floors, damp-mop every two to three months with a homemade solution, a dedicated laminate floor cleaner, or a disposable mopping pad. Just remember: less water is best. Be careful not to soak the floors or leave puddles.

Cautions & Warnings

Don’t use bleach. Since wood laminate is porous, the bleach will soak in and possibly take the shiny finish off, stain your floors, or change the floor color. Avoid products that offer a “protected shine”. These products claim to fill in scratches and scuffs, but ultimately, they will dull the shine on your laminate floor by leaving a residue. Avoid steam. While a steam cleaner is great at cleaning some hard-flooring surfaces, its intense heat and moisture can wreak havoc on the adhesive used on your laminate flooring.
